It was to be an early start so I was up at 5am to leave sometime after 6am. Due to problems with the truck we finally left at 8.10am arriving at Goreme at 9pm, quite a long days travelling. At least it gave us some time to start to know each other. Up went the tents as soon as we arrived, the first time we had tried to put them up. Because we were late arriving it was arranged for us to be picked up by a minibus and taken to a restaurant in the town for a meal. Once finished it was back to the camping site.Initially a lot of people were going to sleep in the campsite cave instead of in a tent but most changed their minds leaving only one of the girls wanting to sleep there. She was concerned about sleeping alone (it was quite safe really) I went into the cave as well. There were beds, mattresses and blankets in the cave and it was probably more comfortable than a tent except when the base of my bed broke one night and dropped me on the floor.
