On the way to Kazbegi we stopped at a roadside market to buy wine (and others bought grappa, deadly stuff) and then at Ananuri Church at Ananuri.
Later on we stopped for lunch at a lookout near Jvari Pass where there were again roadside stalls but this time mainly selling hats and craft items.
Near the top of the pass we stopped again to look at a Monument to War, apparently any war.
This area is well known for skiing and mountain climbing and new hotels are being built though there are many empty or dilapidated ones as well. The scenery is awesome as well.
It was then onto Kazbegi where we set up the tents as we were to stay here for two nights and that evening had a gorgeous meal cooked over the fire by Goren and crew.
