4 May - Lake Kelkit Cayt to Yemek Menusu (Turkey)
Breakfast at 7.30am consisted of strawberries, bananas, fried egg, various cereals, jams, honey, vegemite and hot drinks. Thoroughly spoilt, and I do not expect to lose weight on this trip like I did with Madventure (spit).

We stopped to buy bread again and was again invited into the store for tea but this time we had to leave as there was still some travelling to do this day. We were now travelling along the coast of the Black Sea with the direct result that the scenery and the type of houses changed, generally for farming to a holiday area with many new and stylish houses. Most houses seemed to have four stories and generally all were lived in. These were intermixed with old Soviet type housing, dull square blocks of flats.
Stopping at Tirebolu (a very old fishing port) I took the opportunity to climb up to the Sinop Fort. This had existed fro 2000BC in various forms and was used by the Romans, Byzantines, Seljuks and Ottomans as it protected a safe harbour for boats, now mainly used as a fishing port. I put in the information about the people who had used the fort as I was amazed how many there were and how long it had been there.

The overnight stop was at the Hotel Cosandere at Yemek Menusu with those first into the shower having all the hot water (about four I think) and the rest of us having a cold shower (snow melt by the feel of it). Dinner consisted of cold corn soup with yoghurt, trout with salad and rice pudding.
